Emma Carter
Emma Carter is a professional writer and researcher who covers online casinos for British players. At Sundance Catalog she researches and writes our guide to non GamStop casinos in the UK, and she's the one keeping tabs on everything that guide relies on: licence registers, withdrawal terms, bonus rules and the steady trickle of changes coming out of the UK Gambling Commission.
She writes for ordinary punters rather than the industry. Think of someone at the kitchen table trying to work out whether a 450% bonus is actually any good, or why a withdrawal has been sitting on “pending” for four days. If a guide doesn't help that person make a better decision, Emma doesn't think it's finished.
What Emma Covers
Emma's knowledge of the British online casino market is broad, but her work keeps coming back to the questions that actually affect players' money and safety.
- Offshore licensing. How Curaçao's licensing reform of December 2024 changed what a valid licence looks like, how the Anjouan and Malta registers work, and how to tell a real licence from a badge someone has stuck in a footer.
- UK gambling regulation. The UKGC rules that shape the British market, from the online slots stake limits introduced in 2025 to the 10x cap on bonus wagering in force since 19 January 2026 and the newer deposit limit requirements.
- Withdrawals and verification. Minimum cash-outs, pending periods, payout caps, KYC requests, and the gap between a casino approving a payment and the money reaching your account.
- Bonus terms. Wagering maths, maximum stakes, expiry windows, game contributions, cashback and VIP schemes, always worked through with real numbers rather than headline percentages.
- Complaints and player protection. Complaint routes, ADR, customer fund protection ratings and what changes for a player once they step outside the UK-regulated market.
- Safer gambling. GamStop, operator-level limits, blocking software such as Gamban and BetBlocker, and where to find free support in the UK.
How Emma Works
Emma's starting point is that a casino's homepage is an advert, not a source. Anything legal or regulatory in her guides is checked against what the UK Gambling Commission, HMRC and overseas regulators such as the Curaçao Gaming Authority and the Malta Gaming Authority actually publish. She doesn't lift claims from other casino review sites.
When she looks at an operator, she reads the full terms rather than the banner: the minimum withdrawal, the maximum bet while a bonus is active, the expiry date, and which payment methods work for cash-outs as well as deposits. Then she does the maths. If a figure comes from the casino's own marketing and hasn't been confirmed in a live cashier, she says so in the article instead of dressing it up as a test result.
“The bonus is the least interesting thing on a casino's homepage. I want to know who holds the licence, what the minimum withdrawal is and how long it takes to get your money back. If a site makes those things hard to find, that tells you plenty.” Emma Carter

Editorial Standards
Emma writes to Sundance Catalog's editorial standards, which are set out on our About Us page. In short: regulatory claims are sourced to official bodies, advertised terms are labelled as advertised, and our ratings are editorial ratings rather than audited safety scores. Some casino links on the site are affiliate links, and each guide says so.
She takes responsible gambling seriously, too. Her guides never present non GamStop casinos as a way round self-exclusion. If you've signed up to GamStop, she'd tell you exactly what we would: stick with it.

Spotted something out of date in one of Emma's guides, or got a question about something she's written? Email [email protected] with “For Emma Carter” in the subject line, or use our Contact Us page. It helps if you include the casino name and a link to the terms or register entry you're referring to.
Emma can't help with individual casino accounts or payment disputes. Those need to go to the operator first, and our guide explains the complaint route step by step.
